Community Health Volunteer (CHV) Rekha is weighing Anika, three-months-old, at a Save the Children’s Growth and Monitoring Programme session in Bakergnj, Barisal district, Bangladesh.
In 2000 the world’s leaders met and made a promise to improve the world for the poorest people. They set targets called the Millennium Development Goals to reduce poverty, hunger and disease by 2015.
We are now 10 years into this 15 year programme and significant progress has been made on many of the targets. However, promises to reduce child poverty and maternal mortality by 75% by 2015 have not been met. Only a third of the progress has been made to cut the under 5 mortality rate.
"Press for Change" is Save the Children campaign to collect100,000 thumbprints by 20th September and make the UK Government keep its promises to save children’s lives.
