– last 10 years: making sure steps 1 and 2 work ok
– next 5 years: making steps 2 and 3 suck less.
– 10 years: make all the stuff in the OS & App cloud go away
– 15 years: flatten the information cloud (go back to the ideal set forth by the original Xerox PARC GUI)
– 20 years: desktop-based computer is no longer the centerpiece. Comptuers will be in our clothes and in our bodies… so it won’t be the primary tool we use to access the promiseland.
