Project 365: Health Care Rally
Friday, 19 March 2010

I was a bit excited to hear that President Obama was coming to speak at GMU on my off-Friday – that meant I had every reason to go. I don’t know too much about the health care bill or understand why everyone is up in arms about it, so I thought I’d go to educate myself. I knew the rally would be pro-health care reform, obviously, but that I’d hear what Obama had to say, not to mention I’ve never seen him in person before. I’d educate myself on the rest of the facts later. This event for sure was to get everyone pumped up about the bill and why we should encourage our congressmen to vote for it. It sure had the feel of a pep rally.

Oh man was I giddy. I got so excited when President Obama hit the stage. I loved that he came out suited up, but as soon as he got settled, he lost the blazer and rolled up his sleeves as if he was here to chill out with us. He also gave us GMU Patriots a few shoutouts which made it seem a bit more personal. I think he’s such an exceptional speaker and I was so glad to be there.

Now to educate myself on the other sides (and please don’t use the comments section to preach to me, I’ve heard enough in person).
