Scrub pine (Pinus virginiana) 2006 female cones

These female cones are new this year. They are about 1/2 inch/one or two cm in length. Over the next two years, if all goes well, they will change into mature female cones, the kind most of us know as "pine cones." Axel tells me that this is Pinus banksiana. However, I’ve also gotten a comment that it’s Pinus virginiana.
